The Stratford-upon-Avon Symphony Orchestra had its beginnings as the much smaller “Stratford Concert Orchestra” nearly 60 years ago, since when it has grown into a full symphony orchestra with over sixty playing members, performing orchestral works from Bach to Gershwin and Malcolm Arnold. It is an amateur orchestra, whose players love meeting up once a week to rehearse together, putting on concerts three times a year in Stratford-upon-Avon. Under their current conductor, Dan Watson, who has been with them since 2016, the orchestra has gone from strength to strength and now has a reputation for exciting performances, including works with prestigious solo instrumentalists.
